The fireworks won’t be over when Parish Hall Open Stage opens Friday, June 6th with Kerrville Folk Festival Winner, Michael Troy. The Fall River, Massachusetts singer songwriter writes lyrics with roots to his life as a mill worker, a fisherman, laborer and carpenter. He is a magical storyteller with a gift for melody, a deep, rich voice, excellent finger-picking skills and the ability to compose outstanding stanzas of substance. Michael’s plaintive ballads speak of the hills and mills of Fall River and of childhood dreams not quite forgotten in the adult quest to make an honest living. "I have no plan, he says. "I’m not trying to write in any style or sound like someone else. I write from gut feeling. I let the emotion drive the music, not the music drive the emotions."

Keene Painting Group

Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm
Place: Keene Public Library, Heberton Hall, Keene, NH
Price: Free
Ages: All

Repeats weekly. For many decades, artists living in New England have come together in small social groups to paint and enjoy the art world. The level of ability is wide ranging and includes virtually all media, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels and more. The painting groups generally paint together in church basements, Town Halls, and lodge halls throughout the rural communities. The groups vary in size and an average group size might be about twenty artists with seven to twelve artists painting together on a given day. Some group members are just starting out but others have been painting for decades. Some are self-taught and some have a formal art education.

There is no formal instruction at group meetings. Artists simply learn from one another by observing and asking questions when they see something that interests them.
The Keene Public Library along with the Monadnock Area Artists Association has a painting group meeting every Thursday morning from 10:00 to noon. The program is open to the public with no fees or admission. One simply needs to provide ones own art materials. The group meets in Heberton Hall next to the Library and is a wonderful place to paint. No advance notice is required. Just show up, meet some fellow artists, new friends, and enjoy yourself.

Twins Full Moon Festival

Time: 7:00 pm-9:00 pm
Place: Hastings Parish House - Walpole Unitarian Church, Corner of Main and Union St., Walpole, NH
Price: n/a
Ages: All

The River Valley Full Moon Meditation Group would like to invite the community to join us in celebrating the Twins Full Moon Festival. Each month, at the time of the full moon, people who are concerned about the state of the world and humanity as a whole, gather to offer service by meditating, using a scientific form of creative meditation. This form of meditation helps to step down the spiritual and healing energies, available at this specific time, for planetary redemption.
(Please note: This group recognizes the new, corrected , star-based astrological calendar.)
Each full moon occurs during a certain zodiacal sign, that serves as a symbol for the energies available to humanity at that time. Each sign has a keynote, the keynote for the Twins being, “I recognize my other self, and in the waning of that self, I grow and glow.” This keynote reminds us that as souls we are here to work and serve, and through the disidentification with the ego, that limited sense of a personal self, our power to do so grows and we become more magnetic.”
The Twins Full Moon Festival will be held on Monday, July 2th, from 7-9 pm at the Hastings House, Walpole Unitarian Church, Corner of Main and Union Streets, Walpole, NH. 03608. Meditations are open to the public and operate on the principle of shared responsibility. Please join us on the River Valley Full Moon Meditation Group Facebook page for news, interesting articles and information on scientific meditation, and why we meditate at the full moon. You may also email the group on FB or call (802) 536-5024 for more information.
