Bobcat Research, Revisited

Time: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Place: Harris Center, Hancock, NH (about 22 miles from Keene)
Price: Free
Ages: Older crowd

A research project now underway by the University of New Hampshire and New Hampshire Fish and Game has revealed a wealth of information about one of our most secretive mammals - the bobcat. With a dozen bobcats safely live-trapped, collared, and released (several on or near lands protected by the Harris Center), researchers are learning about the cat’s home ranges, habitat preferences, and abundance in New Hampshire. Join UNH graduate student and project leader Derek Broman for an update on this exciting project, which was launched in the Monadnock Region, and has since been expanded to other areas of the state. Derek will present research findings and continuing riddles, and will also discuss ways in which individuals can help the study by reporting bobcat sightings and tracks. 10 am to noon, at the Harris Center.
