Terrific Tuesdays: Booknic

Time: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm
Place: Keene Public Library, Heberton Hall, Keene, NH

This afternoon, we are celebrating books and picnics.  We'll start with a great picnic read-aloud.  This will be followed with a sampling from other recommended titles.  Then it's your time to recommend a book.  Come prepared to share a favorite title,  Finally, we'll play some book related games.
Terrific Tuesdays takes place each Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. during our summer reading program.  Each week there is a different special event designed for kids that are approximately aged five and up.  Well-behaved younger children are welcome to attend with an adult.

Parent/Child Story, Puppet, and Play Time

Michelle Brooks from The Waldorf Nursery-Kindergarten program will offer a special Parent/Child story program for young children through age 3 1/2. Siblings are welcome.

Michelle received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Anna Maria College and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley College. In 2006 Michelle completed the Waldorf Early Childhood Education program at Sunbridge College in New York.

Wrinkle In Time

It was a dark and stormy night ....
So begins the classic story, A Wrinkle in Time, one of the most significant novels of our time. The book was written in 1962. Many extraordinary things have changed since then, but the book remains a favorite.
This summer make time to relive Madeleine L'Engle's Newbery-winning timeless classic by attending this weekly read-aloud session. You don't have to come to each session because what happened the week before will be summarized each week. 

The Little Mermaid

NCCA’s award winning Children’s Theatre presents the Hans Christian Andersen classic about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. This is a ‘tail’ great for the whole family that you don’t want to miss.

The Sun and You

Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm
Place: Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, 23 Science Center Road, Holderness, NH

Sunlight is Earth’s primary source of energy. But how important is the sun for people as an energy source? Find out with Naturalist, and solar enthusiast, Eric D’Aleo, through experiments comparing how sunlight heats different materials. Construct an inexpensive, yet functional solar cooker, and use sunlight to heat up a snack. Adult must accompany children.

Fireworks

Time: 6:00 pm-10:30 pm
Place: Main St., Hancock, NH

The annual 4th of July fireworks and festivities will take place in Hancock, NH on Tuesday evening July 3rd. The line-up of events include an Ice-cream Social from 6-9 pm, the ringing of the Paul Revere bell from 6-7 pm, the reading of the Declaration of Independence by children in town at 7 pm followed by a concert at 7:30 with folk musicians Wendy Keith and Doug Farrell. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Donations are encouraged!

Homeschool Program at the Farm
