National Gaming Day @ Library

Looking for a place to hang out and have fun with your friends or family?  Read, learn, play during National Gaming Day @ your library. On Saturday, November 12, the Keene Public Library will host special gaming programs and events to celebrate our national love of video and board games. Activities include: Open Play, Settlers of Catan, Dragon Age and Scion Role Playing Games, and a number of tournaments including Brawl, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and Soulcalibur. 

Ivy & Bean Afternoon

Time: 2:00 PM-3:00 PM

Ages: Best for 6+, but all ages welcome.

Celebrate the many wild adventures of Ivy & Bean, a series of books by Annie Barrows.
We will make Double Dare Cootie Catches, design Ivy's bedroom just like we wanted, dress Ivy + Bean in awesome clothes, and shared the series of books with one another.
Best for ages 6 and older but all ages are welcome. 

Tales Told in a Tent

Time: 10:00 AM or 2:00 PM
Place: Mariposa Museum, Peterborough, NH (about 19 miles from Keene)

On Saturday November 12th and November 19th, the Mariposa Museum will present "Tales Told in a Tent", a theatrical production of stories from Central Asia. Local and professional actors from the Monadnock region will be performing delightful folktales in authentic costumes from such countries as Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Tales Told in a Tent is a family friendly production that includes such wonderful characters as Princesses, Kings, Kahns, Tricksters, and Lions all wrapped up in a visual display meant to capture the eyes and ears of young and old alike. The tales are appropriate for ages 5 through adult. Two performances are scheduled on both November 12 and 19th at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. All seats are $10.00. Tales Told in a Tent is part of the Mariposa Museum's exhibition Along the Silk Road.

Art Museum Family Saturday Day

The second Saturday of the month, 10 am – 1 pm Spend some quality family time at the Currier the second Saturday of every month. The theme this Saturday is Music and Art. Participate in hands-on art activities, go on a guided family gallery walk (11:30 am), visit the new Discovery Gallery, or use a family gallery guide. Each Family Saturday will focus on a different theme. Museum admission is free from 10 am to noon every Saturday.

Natural Wellness for the Whole Family

This informative, two-part program is for those who are looking for natural options to support the health of their families, especially as we head toward winter. Facilitated by Cindy Hebbard, the sessions will take place on two Saturdays: Nov.12 and Nov.19, 10:30-12:30.
 

Part One. The Physical Body: Immune Health and Digestive Wellness
The first session will be about foods, remedies and natural solutions that will support the body’s  systems.
Also included will be natural solutions for allergies, asthma, digestive distress, sports injuries, fever, eczema, head lice, childhood chronic pain, and even diabetes.
 

Part Two.The Emotional Body: Mood and Brain Health
This second session will focus on emotional health and well-being. In our fast-paced lives, we are all more prone to stress. For children, this can be one factor that leads to learning and attention difficulties, depression, and anxiety--and the same goes for their parents!  Natural remedies for hyperactivity, learning challenges, anxiousness, irritability, anger issues, and even autism will be addressed. Learning how to use herbs, nutrition and natural healing remedies for emotional health can help to smooth out the difficult times and help bring your family closer together.

Holiday Craft Fair

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Jaffrey VFW is sponsoring a holiday craft fair on Saturday, November 12, from 9 am- 3 pm.  Admission is free to this wonderful event. What a great way to find unique, one-of-a-kind treasures just in time for holiday gift-giving. There will be handcrafted jewelry, soaps and creams, quilts, children's hair accessories and much more.
