YOU CAN START YOUR OWN BUSINESS--or improve the one you have Monadnock SCORE, in partnership with TD Bank, will present an interactive workshop for those who want to start their own business, or who need to improve their current business.
This seminar is intended for people who are in the process of starting a business; who are thinking about it; or have started one but have problems or questions. It deals with what's really involved in being in business including clearly understanding your product or service, determining if there is sufficient need for it, developing and following a plan, cash management and how to get more customers. Also covered will be: where to get money in this tough environment, financial issues, typical problems, how others have successfully dealt with them.

The seminar will address the issues most entrepreneurs face: where business ideas come from, how to test the idea, company, competition, cash needs, getting money, business plans, banking relations, and more. It will be presented by SCORE counselors with personal experience in starting, running or advising small businesses. They will share their first-hand experience and understanding of what may lie ahead of you.

Not only will the program provide a lot of useful insights and ideas, but also there will be a chance to meet and swap ideas with others who are thinking about starting or who are already running their own small business! Handouts will both supplement the material covered and serve as memory aids for participants.

The fee is $30 per participant, $50 for two, and there is no charge to veterans. Payment can be made by credit card when registering online. To assure a place, register in advance. Walk-ins are accepted on a space-available basis. Refreshments will be served.

Music: Hungry Town

Time: 7:30 pm-9:30 pm
Place: Stone Church Arts, 20 Church St., Bellows Falls, VT (about 22 miles from Keene)
Price: See below
Ages: All

“It is Rebecca Hall’s voice and her songwriting that make Hungrytown what they are. She sings gently and with a pure tone that reminds me a little of mid-60s folk/pop sounds; it’s the very antithesis of rock music and its attitudes. Ken Anderson is responsible for the arrangements that fit around her voice and contributes some seamless harmony vocals. If Rebecca is the nightingale, singing with a voice of captivating beauty, then Ken’s arrangements are a lacework of branches, a frame of natural beauty in itself… Contemporary American folk music is full of people trying to evoke times gone by and there seem to be almost as many ways of doing this as there are old-timey acts. Hungrytown have a distinctive slant on this whole idea and I think the quiet beauty of their music almost sounds like a prayer for calm in a febrile world.” – John Davy, Flyinshoes Review
Concert begins at 7:30 pm; doors open at 7:00 pm.

IN ADVANCE: $17.00 for adults; $13.00 for seniors over 60, and children under 12.
AT THE DOOR: $20 ($15 seniors & children).

Tickets are available at Village Square Booksellers (Bellows Falls), Toadstool Bookshop (Keene, NH), Brattleboro Books, Misty Valley Books (Chester), and at www.brattleborotix.com or available at the door.
