Ongoing January Events

Youth Archery Class
Every Tuesday at 6:00 -7:00 PM

KPRD and the North Branch Bowmen club offer youth Archery classes at the Rec Center, on Tuesdays January 3, 2012 through March, for children in the 5th grade or older. Classes will run from 6 to 7 PM. Register through December 18th at the Rec Center. Cost for the series of lessons is $20. Sign up early, as the numbers are limited for safety reasons and time constraints.

Homeschool PE
Every Wednesday at 10:00-11:00 AM
This program is free (with membership) at the YMCA designed for home school youth. Activities include basketball, soccer, fitness, rock climbing, floor hockey, kickball, wallyball, and more! A great chance to interact with other youth, encourage team work and build self esteem.

Storytime at the Library
Every Saturday at 10:00 AM-10:30 AM

Keene Public Library. This drop-in storytime takes place each Saturday that the library is open. The storytime will include stories, songs, finger plays, and sometimes simple crafts. The storytime is appropriate for children of all ages and their parents or caregivers. 


Open Games at the Library 
Every Thursday at 3:00 PM-6:30 PM

Keene Public Library. It is all gaming!  And, gaming of any kind; whether it is board games, card games, video games, big games, role-playing games, or any other kind of game you can imagine, we'll play it.  Each week, we'll provide a different variety of games for you to play; we welcome you to bring in your own games to share with the group.  Throughout the series, we will have a number of gaming tournaments, so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open, because you might be our next grand champion gamer!

Writers' Workshop
Every Thursday 7:00-9:00 PM

Keene Public Library. Aspiring authors are invited to join this writers' group led by local author Jack Coey.  Join other writers to share ideas, critiques and writing resources. Each week participants will share partial manuscripts with other members of the group so they may take them home for a week and at the next session have a 'feedback' session.
The workshops are for motivated teen and adult writers of writers of realistic fiction and all experience levels. Jack is the author of Lights from Monadnock and Two Legged Foxes both of which deal with the Dean Murders.

Poetry Out Loud
Every Saturday 3:00-4:30 PM

Keene Public Library.  Students interested in participating in the Keene Public Library's Poetry Out Loud competition are required to attend these poetry workshops.

Workshops will explore how to choose and memorize a poem. Practice contests and writing exercises will also be included.

Poetry Out Loud is a program for high school aged students that encourages teens to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation.The date of the library's competition will be Sunday, February 12 at 2 p.m.
