Scooped: The Forgotten Tale of the First Pumpkin Carving

Come meet Professor von Junk to the world and his repulsive assistant, E. Gore. two characters in the new children's book 'Scooped: The Forgotten Tale of the First Pumpkin Carving.' The imaginative book describes how the first jack-o'-lantern came to be.  The books authors, Rebecca and Kevin Kelly, will be on hand to share their experiences writing and illustrating the book and to answer questions.

When Sylvester, a winsome donkey, picks up a shiny red pebble, its magic spins a heartwarming story that reveals to him the true importance of family and friends. In Enchantment Theatre Company’s production, Sylvester learns that magic works very well sometimes — he can turn the rain on and off! — but it can also work against him — when he transforms himself into a rock to escape a hungry lion. How will he escape from the rock? How will his loving family ever find him? Will he ever get home?

Terry Reeves Education Director and David Blair Director Mariposa Museum David and Terry will give an account of the history of paper - its roots in China and travels along the Silk Road. They will share examples of beautiful paper crafts from around the world and involve the audience in a hands on paper activity. Terry Reeves is Education Director at the Mariposa and has been co-chair of Children and the Arts for 17 years. She was also an Arts Enrichment Coordinator for Conval school District. Director and Founder of the Mariposa, David Blair has a rich knowledge of world cultures and a background in educating children and adults around the world.
