Crab Full Moon Festival

Place: Hastings Parish House - Walpole Unitarian Church, Corner of Main and Union, Walpole, NH
Price: Contact for info
Ages: Contact for info

The River Valley Full Moon Meditation Group would like to invite the community to join us in celebrating the Crab Full Moon Festival. Each month at the time of the full moon, people who are concerned about the state of the world and humanity as a whole, gather to offer service by meditating using a scientific form of creative meditation. This form of meditation helps to step down the spiritual, and healing energies, available at this specific time for planetary redemption.

(Please note: This group recognises the new, corrected , star-based astrological calendar.)
Each full moon occurs during a certain zodiacal sign, that serves as a symbol for the energies available to humanity at that time. Each sign has a keynote, the keynote for the Crab being, “I build a lighted house, and therein dwell.” This keynote reminds us that to manifest as souls in our lives, and through our personality vehicles, we must prepare them and make them bodies of lighted substance.”

The Crab Full Moon Festival will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 1st, from 7-9 pm at the Hastings House, Walpole Unitarian Church, Corner of Main and Union Streets, Walpole, NH. 03608. Meditations are open to the public and operate on the principle of shared responsibility.
Please join us on the River Valley Full Moon Meditation Group Facebook page for news, interesting articles and information on scientific meditation, and why we meditate at the full moon. You may also email the group on FB or call (802) 536-5024 for more information.

A multimedia theatrical reinterpretation of the Russian Folk tale “Vasilisa the Brave” featuring live musical storytelling and acrobatic dance theater. The show has been called a “visual feast”, weaving fantastical video art and shadow play with sets and costumes that harken back to Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal. Maria Pugnetti, playing both narrator and hero, tells Mabel’s story through an all original musical score that combines freak folk with a touch of Bjork and the classic bedtime story. The dynamic dance trio Radha Newsom, Jahnavi Newsom, and Cyndal Ellis animate the stage with a contemporary fusion of modern dance, capoeira, acrobatics, and tribal style belly dance. The Mabel Story transports audiences of all ages on an other-worldly adventure.

Set in the 1800’s of the American West, The Mabel Story tells the tale of a girl who loses her mother to typhus on the Oregon Trail. Mabel is left in the care of a sinister widow and her two daughters who exploit the young girl. Mabel’s only comfort is an enchanted doll, a gift from her deceased mother, that consoles and guides her. When Mabel comes of age, she embarks on a dangerous rite of passage journey through a surreal wilderness in search of the witch Baba Sova. Along the way Mabel encounters a magical world of plants and animals, faces certain death, and, in the end, gains courage and gratitude for the natural world.

G.M. Browning Signing his YA Novel Cerulean Isle

Time: 2:00 pm
Place: The Toadstool Bookshop, Keene, NH
Price: Free
Ages: Older

On Sat., July 28 at 2:00 p.m., G.M. Browning will sign and talk about his YA fantasy adventure, Cerulean Isle, a high-seas adventure with pirates and mermaidens!

Kidnapped as a boy and kept as a slave on a pirate ship, young Jacob dreams of freedom, and of one day discovering the fabled island of the Mer people. With fellow shipmate Grant, Jacob escapes and finds refuge in Granada. But stories of Cerulean Isle, land of the Merfolk, continue to haunt him. One day a stranger appears and Jacob and Grant must embark on a dangerous voyage to flee from the pirates that seek their lives. In the process, Jacob at last discovers the truth behind legendary Cerulean Isle.

New Hampshire author G.M. Browning has been writing fiction since elementary school. As an older brother to two, spinning tales of magic, fantasy and adventure was an important job throughout childhood. Storytelling is but one passion, as Browning draws inspiration from the many facets of his life. Playing the guitar, cruising in his old Firebird, bass fishing and video games are the simpler joys; though nothing makes him happier than spending time with his wife, Devin.
