Every Child Learn To Read

Time: 10:00 am-10:45 am
Place: Keene Public Library, Youth Program Rm, Keene, NH
Price: Free
Ages: Birth-5

This Every Child Ready to Read® @ your library® workshop is for parents, grandparents, childcare providers --and their children from birth to age five. The workshop presents five important early literacy practices along with interactive activities that parents, caregivers, and children can enjoy together.

Before children can learn to read, they must develop a range of early literacy skills. Learning these skills, which begins at birth, has a long-term impact on children's reading achievement and academic success. Children who enter school with well-developed early literacy skills have an advantage; they are ready to learn to read.

The history of The Fort at No. 4 in Charlestown, New Hampshire, in many ways reflects the larger growth and development of the English colonies. The area was settled by pioneers characterized by their determination, work ethic, and emerging industrial skills. As the colonies grew, and immigration from England continued at a rapid pace, the need for more farmland and economic opportunity drove settlers west. The “west” in colonial New England included the vast tracts of land beyond the established towns.
