Children in grades 3 to 5, come to the Antrim Elementary School Gymnasium to join naturalist Jenn Sutton as she experiments with solar energy, tornados, and goo! Conduct safe science experiments of your own with items found around the house. Satisfy the curiosity of the mind by participating in and understanding hands-on experiments including soap explosions, solar cooking, and tornado tube racing. Be ready to be amazed! Wildlife Encounters with Granite Zoo
Time: 1:30 PM-2:30 PM
Place: Town Hall, upper meeting room, Brookline, NH (about 44 miles from Keene)
Price: Adults Free/4 and up $7
Ages: 6 and up
January's program will be - Overview of Earth Science and it's effect on Biodiversity. Each program will last approx. 1 hour and will include 6 animals presented by professional educators, all of which hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Zoology, Wildlife Ecology, etc. This will be a program with some hands on opportunities. (Please be aware that some animals can not be touched due to state regulations, ie. arctic foxes, etc.) If you would like to see a list of some of the animals that might show up, please visit: http://www.gszoo.org/the-animals/
This program will be an hour in length and geared to ages 6 and up. Younger children and siblings are welcome to join us; if younger guests lose interest before the presentation is over, there is a small area outside the hall and an additional area downstairs where they may be more comfortable.CANCELED

The Nobel Prize in Literature 1938 was awarded to Pearl Buck 'for her rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China and for her biographical masterpieces. ' She wrote more than 70 books including tonight's book The Big Wave. The Big Wave is a children's book that as much to say to adults as well. In the book, two Japaneses boys learn to live with the ever-present dangers from the sea and volcano after they both escape a tidal wave destroying family and village.
This book discussion group is reading some classic works of literature written by authors that have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Teen Connection are having a field trip Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McIntyre Ski area in Manchester, New Hampshire. Tickets are $19 for three hours. The tubing is better than Nashoba, cheaper and the lodge has more reasonable prices for food. They also have free WiFi. Teen Connection is a group for homeschooled kids aged 13 and up. We meet regularly for field trips and get-togethers.
