1. Homeschool Harvest Day & Scarecrow Making Workshop
Time: 10:00 PM-4:00 PM
Place: Historic Deerfield, 80 Old Main St., Deerfield, MA (45.01 miles from Keene)
Price: Adults $12/Youth (6-17) $5
Hall Tavern Visitor Center. Visit the Cooks Garden to find out what is being harvested. Spend time with open hearth cooks and learn how they processed and used fruits of the harvest. Make a recipe book and spice mixture to take home. Visit the Wapping Schoolhouse and learn some lessons from the School Master. Try carding wool, weaving on a loom and playing old-fashioned games. Explore the meadow walk and bring a picnic to eat at one of our many village picnic spots. Historic Houses will be open for tours. *For an additional $5 fee, participate in a Scarecrow-Making Workshop. Learn about the interesting history of scarecrows as Museum Educators help you make your own unique harvest figure to take home. (We will provide an armature, stuffing and supplies for decorating your figure; you bring the old clothes to dress it.) Pre-registration required by September 21. 2. "That Reminds Me of a Story" with Rebecca Rule

Place: Frost Free Library, 28 Jaffrey Rd., Marlborough, NH (5.29 miles from Keene)
Price: FreeRebecca Rule tells and gathers stories in New England, especially New Hampshire. This program is possible through a grant from the NH Humanities Council.
