Memorial Day Parade

Time: 8:30 am
Place: Peterborough Community Center, Peterborough, NH (about 19 miles from Keene)
Price: Free

The Peterborough Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 28th. The Parade marchers will meet at the Peterborough Community Center on Elm Street at 8 am. The Parade will step off at 8:30 heading towards Main Street and down towards the Peterborough Library Bridge. Just before the bridge, the Parade will pause to honor the Sea Veterans and then continue on to Veterans Way and up School Street onto Grove Street and the Memorial Gates. Any Veterans who wish to participate in the Parade, please meet at the Community Center.

The Parade will include the Veterans, members of Gold Star families, the Parade Marshall, the recipient of the Cheney-Armstrong Post 5 American Legion cane, the SMS Band under the leadership of Ed Lowy, the 6th NH Regiment, Bob Koch as Uncle Sam, Muffy Ames as a WWI Doughboy, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Monadnock Squadron, the Peterborough Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus, the Boy Scouts, Frontier Girls, and Girl Scouts.

Cheney-Armstrong's Auxiliary will be holding a bake sale near the gates. They also will be selling flags. If anyone has a flag to be retired please drop it off at the Auxillary table and the flags will be retired on Flag Day June 14th at the Gazebo near the Toadstool.

The Speaker for the Parade is Commander Carl Johnson USNR of Greenfield. Mark Briggs will be singing the National Anthem, the 6th NH Civil War re-enactors will be firing and the USNSC will be raising the flag.

In the event of rain, the parade component will be cancelled but the rest of the Program will go on in the Peterborough Town House Hall at 9 am. If a Veteran needs a ride, please call Wayne Thomas at 563-8376.
